Aaargh… Lizards!!!

One thing there seem to be plenty of in other countries are lizards.

When I went on family vacations to Southern Europe I remember seeing them all over the rocks and walls outside of our hotels we stayed in at the time.

Now I’m in Asia, I’m also seeing a whole lot of lizards, like this cute fellow below:

The downside to Geckos is for their propensity to suddenly scuttle away when you disturb them. Many foreigners die of heart attacks in Thailand each year. I wonder how many of these sad incidents are due to old dudes being startled by a Gecko?

Thankfully there weren’t too many of them in China. But in Thailand there are huge numbers of Geckos. I’ve got one that visits my balcony sometimes, and there’s one that lives behind the oil painting in the corridor of my apartment building.

Incidentally, I quite like the Chinese name for a Gecko – 壁虎, or BiHu. I’ve taken to calling them BiHoos as it sounds more appropriate for these cute little Asian dragons.
